A teenage boy, who was beaten up by his neighbors over a trivial matter in Rayerbazar area of Mohammadpur in the capital, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday night.
The victim Md Shakil Khan,15, son of Md Rafique of Sultanganj area in the capital. He used to work at a tailoring shop at Rayerbazar.
On Thursday, one Kamal and his two sons Akash and Sagor beat up Shakil as Kamal’s wife got injuries in her lip by Shakil’s head at one stage of dancing at a wedding ceremony, said Shakil’s uncle Moniruzzaman Khan.
On Friday, Akash and Sagor along with their friends again attacked Shakil with a road, he said.
Shakil’s family members first admitted him to a local clinic as he complained of pain in his head.
Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated.
Mohammadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector Kamal Krishna Saha said the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
Police detained Achhia Begum, 38, who received injury by Shakil’s head, her sister Nazma Begum,42, nephew Nazim, 24, and her brother Shahjahan,30. All of them were present at the wedding party. A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
