BB heist: CID to meet counterpart countries in USA

CID Special Superintendent Mirza Abdullahel Baqui told the Dhaka Tribune. He said a four-member team under lead by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Saiful Islam left to California of USA to meet other country’s representatives who were assisting CID in investigating the Bangladesh bank heist. The meeting was arranged by World Bank to discuss on the development of the investigation, he added. A CID sources said CID Additional DIG Shah Alam was also invited in the meeting and he couldn’t attend the meeting directly for particular duty in the country. DIG Shah Alam informed the Dhaka Tribune that he will join the meeting through a video conference. Talking on their meeting with the counterparts was scheduled to take place after meeting of Asia Pacific Group (APG) in Dhaka, SS Baqui said the meeting was postponed and now will hold at California. A decision will be made soon for the postponed conference, he added. Answering the quarry -When would they sent their team to interview, nationals of two countries – Sri Lanka and Philippines – whose names were unearthed during the investigation, the CID official said the two country had already gave their consent to interview with CID. However, they were yet to confirm CID about the date, he added. Three teams from CID visited Sri Lanka and the Philippines but none of the possible suspects had been interviewed by the team during the visits. The suspects from the two countries where the money was withdrawn are crucial to the investigation as an interview with them will reveal the mastermind behind the heist and confirm if any BB official is involved in the case.
