Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested two persons for their alleged involvements in deceiving people by providing fake jobs.
The arrestees are Miraz Hossain Tushar, 28, and Ripon Miah, 28 while the ring leader and other accomplices were on run.
CID sources said the gang lured several people with providing jobs at telecom companies – Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink, and other private companies including RFL. They also served fake appointment letters to the job seekers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of CID Dhaka Metropolitan (North) Minhazul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that the matter was disclosed when more than one hundred people were moved to RFL office with their fake appointment letters recently.
The cheaters also published advertisements in several national newspapers including job advertising portals- Chakrir Khobor, Chakrir Bazar.
The official said the gang took Tk4,500 as security money and training and Tk20,000 more saying that job seekers will get motorbikes from the companies for field level jobs.
The gang had been operating several offices at the capital. Their main office S Shan Advertisement is located at Jhil Market near Ittefaq crossing.
Acting on a tip-off, CID arrested them in between 5pm to 6pm on Tuesday, the CID official said, adding that the arrestees are mid level gang members.
The CID will interrogate them to arrest the masterminds behind such crime soon.
They have already obtained information about the kingpins, he added.
He said CID has been processing legal action against the arrestees.
