A member of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), was stabbed to death by a suspected snatcher in Sylhet on Friday morning.
The victims was Imon Acharya, He died at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 1:30pm while undergoing treatment. KM Shahidul Islam Sohag, media officer of RAB-9 and additional superintendent of police, confirmed the matter.
Police detained the suspect after the incident.
He said a police team was chasing a snatcher on the west side of Sylhet Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station in the morning.
Imon Acharya, who was in the area in plainclothes for personal work at the time, tried to help police catch the suspect after noticing the chase.
During the scuffle, the suspect stabbed him on the left side of his chest.
He was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors later declared him dead.
