Police on Thursday arrested a man for creating fake IDs and posting under other people's names on Facebook.
He was arrested in the Gaibandha district. He is known as a “Facebook Master” in the area.
According to the police, Anwar had been running a fake Facebook ID in the name of Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon police station, for a long time.
The arrestee had used to share the same pictures and videos as OC Mohammad Mohsin's real Facebook ID. He also used to talk to women and blackmail them for money on Facebook Messenger as OC Mohsin.
After OC Mohsin came to know of the incident, he filed a general diary with Mirpur Model police station on September 5, 2023.
Later, on January 22, he filed a case with Tejgaon police station under the Cyber Security Act.
Officer-in-charge of Tejgaon police station Mohammad Mohsin said the fraudster also created fake Facebook accounts of the president, several ministers, state ministers, and other famous people.
Anwar studied till grade five. He was a student at Kholabari Government Primary School in Gaibandha Sadar but discontinued his studies after he failed.
