4.5kg gold recovered at Chittagong airport

Members of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) and National Security Intelligence (NSI) in a drive seized gold ornaments weighing over 4.5 kilograms at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong on Saturday morning.

The gold was recovered beneath the seat of a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Acting on a tip-off, NSI Chittagong Airport team and the CIID officials, conducted a joint operation at 8:40am and recovered the gold in an abandoned state, said an NSI official of the team.

The estimated value of the recovered gold is over Tk3.89 crore.
