Their arrival and purpose of visit was earlier confirmed by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) (Intelligence and Special Affairs) Md Moniruzzaman. AIG Moniruzzaman had told the Dhaka Tribune that the NIA had shared whatever information they have with Bangladesh Police and expected similar cooperation. The contradictory statements from two senior police officials are somewhat confusing. Commissioner Asaduzzaman said the police had learned a lot of valuable information from interrogating Mahfuz in remand. “We are going over his direct and indirect involvement in the Holey Artisan Bakery attack. He was one of the most active New JMB members with strong networks in a neighbouring country. Gulshan attack charge sheet, soon
He reiterated that the charge sheet for the Holey Artisan Bakery attack will be filed very soon. His statement comes just three days after the investigating officer petitioned the court to extend the deadline by another month. The deadline for charge sheet submission had already been extended to July 16 by a magistrate back in May. The DMP chief claimed the police now have all the necessary post-mortem and forensic reports to file the charge sheet with due diligence.
