Journalist Nadim murder's main accused UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu's accomplice who was arrested from Kamal upazila's Batti village early Monday has been placed on one-day remand on Tuesday.
The arrestee is Noyon Mia, 25, son of Sanwar Hossain resident of Dhatuakanda.
Bakshiganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sohel Rana had said: “Noyon was directly involved in the murder of Nadim. He fled after the murder. Recently came to the village to meet the family. He was arrested and brought to the police station by raiding the area based on secret information.”
The police official also said that Noyon's involvement was directly revealed in the interrogation of the accused arrested in connection with the journalist Nadim's murder.
Dhaka TribuneNadim, who had been seriously injured in an attack allegedly by some supporters of Babu in the Pathati area of Bokshiganj upazila on June 14, died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital the next day.
He was the Jamalpur correspondent for Banglanews24.com and a Bokshiganj upazila correspondent for Ekattor Television. He was also a member of the Jamalpur Press Club.
A case was lodged against 47 people naming now-suspended Sadhurpara union parishad (UP) chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu as the key accused in connection with Nadim's murder.
