2 Rohingya men killed in gunfight at Cox’s Bazar camp

A police team went to the camp after receiving information that a Rohingya leader had been attacked

Two suspected Rohingya criminals were shot dead in a gunfight with the police at Balukhali camp of Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar late on Friday. 

One of the deceased was Solim Ullah, 33. The police could not confirm the identity of the other deceased. 

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, officer-in-charge of Ukhiya police station, said a police team went to the spot after receiving information that a gang of criminals had attacked a Rohingya leader.

Sensing the presence of police, they opened fire and the police retaliated.

Two of the criminals had sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot, said the OC.

The bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
