Update : 18 Jul 2017, 03:05 PM
A fourteen-year-old Qawmi madrasa student was killed allegedly by his roommate during the early hours of Tuesday at the madrasa dormitory in the capital city’s Bangshal area. The deceased, Junayed Al Habib, was the son of Tofazzal Hasan, a denizen of Madhyapara area of Sunamganj district. Junayed used to share a room with his classmate, Tareque Aziz, at the dormitory of Al Jamia Majahir Ulum Manowar Khan. Police took Tareque into their custody soon after the incident. Since the victim's father could not reach the police station when the report was filed, no case had been filed. Quoting the detainee, Bangshal police station OC, Md Shahidur Rahman, said: “Tareque was upset at Junayed regarding some issue. At one point, he got too worked up and strangled Junayed with a pillow, then stabbed him. To ensure Junayed's death, Tareque pushed the body off the top of the five-storey madrasa building.” Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. It was then sent for autopsy to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Police are now investigating the murder and trying to find out whether Tareque had any accomplice.
