The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) has recovered Tk10 crore in gold bars that were being smuggled into the country on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dubai.
A total 120 gold bars, altogether weighing 13.92kg, was wrapped in black tape and hidden inside tissue boxes in a washroom of Biman flight BG-4048, according to a CIID press release quoted by the Business Standard.

CIID raided the aircraft at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and found the gold after receiving a tip-off. No arrests were made.
Earlier on July 20, the Airport Armed Police (AAP) detained three people with Tk8 crore in gold at the Dhaka airport. AAP officials said the smugglers had liquefied the gold into a paste in order to hide it.
