30 injured as villagers clash in Sylhet

At least 30 people, including three women, were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Sonatula Sadipur village in sadar upazila on Thursday.

Police said Al Amin, son of Abdul Mannan, and Jewel Ahmed, son of Nunu Mia, quarreled over a small matter on Thursday.

Later, an arbitration was arranged for settling the quarrel at a local mosque.

At one stage, a brawl and scuffles took place between Al Amin and Jewel's supporters at the arbitration.

According to a UNB report, both the groups, equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other, leaving 30 people injured.

A house and a business establishment were vandalised during the clash.

Upon receiving information, police came in and quelled the mayhem.

The injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
