A man was jailed for attempting to rape his 3-year-old niece in Ghorashal, Dinajpur on Monday.
Accused Lal Miisa 48 years old, said Officer-in-Charge of Ghorashal Police Station Md Ajim Uddin.
The child's aunt filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Ghorashal Police Station on Sunday.
According to the case statement, the child was playing alone on Sunday afternoon when her uncle violated her. Locals rushed to the spot after hearing the victim scream and admitted her to a hospital in serious condition.
Later, locals caught Lal Mia and handed him over to police.
Lal Mia confessed to the crime in preliminary interrogation, the OC said.
