A Dhaka court on Tuesday issued a warrant to arrest major r Syed Mohammad Ziaul Haque Zia, who was sacked earlier in Blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim accepted the chargesheet on Tuesday.
Khilgaon Police Station General Registration Officer Sub-Inspector Yusuf Hossain told BSS that the court issued an arrest warrant against major Zia as he is absconding.
On Sunday, DB Police Inspector Shah Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman Elias filed a chargesheet against 13 people, including major Zia, in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim.
The other accused in the chargesheet are Mohammad Masum Rana, Saad Al Nahin, Mohammad Kawsar Hossain Khan, Mohammad Kamal Hossain Sardar, Maulana Mufti Abdul Gaffar, Mohammad Mortuza Faisal Sabbir, Mohammad Tarekul Alam alias Tareq, Khairul Islam alias Jamil alias Rifat alias Fahim alias Jisan, Abu Siddique Sohail alias Shakib alias Sahab, Mozammel Hossain Symon, Mohammad Arafat Rahman and Mohammad Sheikh Abdullah alias Jubayer.
Among the accused, only Zia is absconding.
On August 7, 2015, miscreants hacked blogger Niloy to death at his house in Goran.
Al-Qaeda’s Indian subcontinent branch (AQIS) claimed responsibility for the killings on the same day.
On the same night, Niloy’s wife Ashamani filed a murder case against four unidentified persons with Khilgaon police station.
