The managing director of Raintree Hotel has appeared before the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) for questioning.
MD Shah Mohammad Adnan Harun, along with his uncles Mujibul Hoque Kamal and Akbar Hossain Manju and lawyer Jahangir Kabir, appeared before CIID’s Kakrail office around 11:00am on Tuesday to explain the source of 10 bottles of liquor seized during a drive at the hotel, said CIID Joint Director Safiur Rahman, reports UNB.
On May 14, Customs Intelligence officials conducted a drive at Banani's Raintree Hotel, where two private university girls were raped on March 28, and seized 10 bottles of foreign liquor from a room.
The next day, the CIID asked Adnan Harun to appear before it on May 23. Following the CIID notice, a counsel of the hotel owner moved the court challenging legality of the notice.
On Monday, the Appellate Division stayed a High Court order for six months that halted a summons order issued by the CIID against Raintree's MD for one month.
