Suspected robber killed in Lakshmipur gunfight

A suspected robber has been killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Daupara Bini Dighir Par area of Lakshmipur district. The deceased is Md Rasel alias Kala Rasel. Chandraganj police station Office-in-Charge (OC) Muktar Hossain said Rasel and his associate Bablu were detained with arms from Joypur village Thursday morning. He said: “A group of robbers opened fire at us when we went to Daupara Bini Dighir Par area along with Rasel to recover more firearms Friday night.” In retaliation, police fired back that left Rasel injured. Meanwhile, three policemen were also injured in the incident. The OC said Rasel died from bullet wounds when taken to a local hospital.
