The Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque said on Saturday afternoon that a total of 65 militants had been killed in the last 15 anti-militancy operations across the country.
The police chief made the statement while giving his speech at a rally on community policing for drugs and militancy held at Azad Balur Maath, a playground in the Chakbazar area of Dhaka.
IGP Shahidul said: “Many militants were also captured in the recent operations. They are now in fear, as police intelligence officials are detecting their locations in a very short time after receiving any information, and law enforcement agencies are swooping on notorious militants and their dens as soon as this information is passed on.”
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Food Minister Kamrul Hasan and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia were present at the programme, among others.
