Jubo League activist murdered in Chittagong

A Jubo League activist has been hacked to death the premises of his house in Chittagong’s Mirsarai upazila. Police said the deceased Golam Mostafa, 45, was the vice-president of the Korerhat Union unit of Mirsarai upazila Jubo League and a poultry businessman in the area. The incident took place in the Botala area of Dakhhin Olinagar of Korerhat union. The motive behind the murder is unclear and police say none of the attackers could be identified as the incident took place at early Monday. Chittagong district police Assistant Superintendent (ASP) of Mirsarai circle Md Mahbubur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune: “A group miscreants attacked him in the courtyard of his house and slashed at him with sharp weapons at around 1:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.” The attackers appeared to have been tracking Mostofa's movements, the ASP said, as Golam was returning from his poultry farm at the time. Police recovered Mostofa's body on Monday morning and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for post-mortem examination. law enforcement officials were preparing to file a case over the murder.
