An eight-year-old girl was raped by a man in Khansama upazila of Dinajpur district on Tuesday.
The victim is a student of the third grade.
Syed Shamshed Ali allegedly raped the girl and was arrested on the same day in a drive led by the Khansama Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sajebur Rahman.
A family member of the victim said Shamshed lured the girl into a cornfield and raped her around 11am.
The victim returned home in a bloody state and was rushed to Dinajpur Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital by her parents.
The UNO said a case had been filed with the Khansama police station.
