A suspected robber has been killed in a “gunfight” with Detective Branch (DB) of Police in Burichong upazila of Comilla district.
Mostafa, 33, was killed in the “gunfight” which took place around 12am on Wednesday.
District DB branch SI Shah Kamal Akand said: “A group of robbers have been conducting robberies in Lalbagh Rail Gate area. A jeweler was stabbed to death in the same area last month.
“We detained two robbers over the murder Tuesday evening. Based on their confessional statements, we conducted a drive in the area to arrest the others.”
He said: “The robbers opened fire at us when we reached Lalbagh Rail Gate area.”
In retaliation, DB police fired back that left Mostafa injured.
The OC said Mostafa died when taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital around 1am.
