A Chhatra League leader --Nazmul Hossain—was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Farazi Para village under Sadar upazila of Kushtia district.
Nazmul, 27, was murdered at his house around 3am on Wednesday. He was district Chhatra League vice president.
Nazmul’s cousin Milon said some assailants entered his (Nazmul) room and shot him in the head while he was sleeping. The assailants fled the scene soon after the incident.
Later, the doctor pronounced him dead when he was taken to Kushtia General Hospital.
Kushtia model police station Sub-Inspector Atiqur Rahman said: “We are investigating the matter and trying to identify the assailants.”
