Police: Investigation into Adnan murder almost complete

Update : 14 Feb 2017, 09:30 PM
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday at a media briefing claimed they are nearing the end of the investigation into the murder of Uttara ninth-grader Adnan. Bidhan Chandra Tripura, deputy commissioner of DMP Uttara Division, said: “Nearly 90% of the investigation is complete, though the prime accused Naimur Rahman Anik is still on the run.” On January 6, the local teenager’s gang Disco Boys attacked the members of Nine Star. Adnan, a Nine Star member, was attacked during the incident. The critically injured schoolboy was rushed to an Uttara hospital where he died. Adnan’s father Kabir Hossain lodged a case with Uttara West Police Station naming nine people and accusing 10-12 unidentified others in this regard. A total of 14 suspects were arrested in this case. “The police have beefed up security at Uttara to lessen adolescent crimes,” said the DC. “Whoever is found to be roaming around in their school uniform during school hours will be detained,” he said. Information on the gangs uncovered by Dhaka Tribune and published in the article “Drugs drive Uttara gangs” was also corroborated by law enforcement agencies following the detention of the gang members. Adnan’s father was also present in the briefing. He said that guardians and the society should be vigilant about children so that no one else loses their children in such way.
