Sagar-Runi report submission delayed for the 56th time, new schedule date assigned

For the 56th time, the submission of the investigation report in the murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi has been delayed. Even with the date scheduled to April 22, 2018, the investigation organization, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has deferred submission. Assistant Director of RAB Mohiuddin Ahamed failed to submit probe report on Sunday (today) so the metropolitan's Hakim Mazharul Haque has deferred the submission to a new date, May 3. Assistant of general registration officer of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station, Zohurul Haque, has confirmed the news. Eight suspects were arrested in connection to this murder. They are Rafiqul Islam, Bakul Miah, Masum Mintu, Kamrul Hasan Arun, Abu Sayeed, two security guards of the couple’s house Palash Rudra Paul and Enamul Hoque and the couple’s family friend Tanveer Rahman. However, none of the suspects has confessed despite being held in remand several times. Sagar, news editor of private TV station Maasranga and his wife Runi, senior reporter of another private TV channel, ATN Bangla, were brutally murdered in their rented flat on the night of February 11, 2011.This article was first published on
