The deceased are Dulal, 45, and Ibrahim, 44.
Kahaloo OC Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui said: “Acting on a tip-off, we raided the area around 1:15am on Wednesday.
“Sensing our presence, the robbers opened fire at us.”
In retaliation, police fired back that left the two robbers injured while the others managed to flee the scene.
He said: “The injured were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared them dead.”
Two policemen were also injured in the incident, he added.
Meanwhile, a foreign-made pistol, five rounds of bullets, a magazine and some local weapons were recovered from the spot, the OC claimed.
