Lakehead Grammar School owner allegedly picked up from Gulshan office

The owner of Lakehead Grammar School was allegedly picked up on Saturday afternoon. Gulshan police station Inspector (Investigation) Salauddin Miah confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Saturday. He said a general diary is being filed with Gulshan Police station and the police are trying to track the missing person. According to the report, around seven to eight people in plainclothes picked up Khaled Hasan Matin, the school's owner, from his Gulshan office on Saturday afternoon.

He said: “Some people arrived at his Gulshan office in a microbus around 4pm, refused to identify themselves, and picked up Khaled.” Earlier on November 6 last year, the government suspended the functions of the school’s Dhanmondi and two other branches saying it was inspiring religious extremism, building extremist organizations, and carrying out activities against the nation and its independence. On November 9, the High Court issued a rule asking the government to explain why suspension of academic activities of three branches of Lakehead Grammar School in Dhaka would not be illegal. Later on November 14, the High Court ordered to reopen the school within 24 hours.
