Expressing disappointment at the never-ending feud between two Awami League stalwarts in Narayanganj, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal assured a pool of journalists on Thursday that the man, who was featured in a video footage brandishing a handgun during Tuesday’s mayhem at Chashara, will be identified and brought to book.
“I am giving assurance that no one will be spared, and we will take legal action against whoever breaks the law,” he said, after attending the inauguration of the expansion of Central Drug Addiction Treatment Centre in Dhaka’s Tejgaon to 100 seats, from 50 seats.
The minister also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was irked by what happened between supporters of Narayanganj city Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy and Narayanganj-4 MP Shamim Osman.
“Senior Awami League leaders have already spoken to both leaders regarding the matter. And inquiries are being made to uncover what exactly happened and why it occurred,” said Kamal.

Dhaka TribuneWitnesses said Niazul Islam Khan, who was among Shamim’s followers, had fired from a small handgun during Tuesday’s clash at Chashara. He was, however, overpowered and beaten by a group of Ivy supporters.
Since then, he has not been seen in public. Media reports said Nizaul, a known criminal in Narayanganj, is not at his Uttar Chashara home and avoided his restaurant in Shibu Market area the last two days.
Even though police said they were trying to find him and bring him to book, Niazul has reportedly managed to file a general diary, through his younger brother, at Sadar Model police station, claiming his gun was stolen and an attempt to murder him was made.
