Missing marine engineer found dead

A day after disappearing, marine engineer Rafiqul Hasan Rimon's body was found in a building under construction in Shukrabad on Sunday midnight. Police suspects that the murder was planned. Police officials said they found a neck chain and three mobile phones with the body. If the murderers were professional hijackers, they would have taken his neck chain and mobile phones, they added. Besides, from his hand and chest injuries, it seems he was beaten to death, they further added. New Market police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiqur Rahman said: "We have started investigating the matter.  Rafiqul's neck chain and mobile phones were not stolen which leads us to assume that this might be an organized murder.” The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy. According to a police source, Rafiqul Hasan Rimon lived in Sector 7 of Uttara. Two of his sons live with Rafiqul's wife, who separated from him, in Science Laboratory area. On Saturday (December 16), he left his his wife's house with his children. After spending the entire day with them, he dropped them at his wife's place. However, he did not return home that night. His phone was found switched off. His father Khalil Ullah filed a general diary (GD) at New Market police station in this regard on Sunday. The station's Sub-inspector (SI) Mahbubur Rahman said: "Rafiqul's body was found on the ground floor of an under construction building in Shukrabad's Kachabazar area, in the early hours of Sunday. After receiving information from the locals, police recovered the body." Police's Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Maruf Hasan Sarder said: "Police is trying to find out who killed Rafiqul and why they did so.”
