“Musa is a member of militant outfit New JMB, a faction of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). It is sure that currently he stays in the country. Our drives are on to arrest him,” Asaduzzaman Mia said.
The DMP chief made the statement during visiting Kakrail Church on Christmas Day to observe the security on Sunday.
In reply to a query, he said the DMP has no data about the number of the militant outfit that consists of many layers and runs the activities in secret.
He opined that the female jihadists are being influenced by the family members who involved in the militancy.
On Saturday, police’s Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit carried out Operation Ripple 24 at a house in Ashkona Purbapara area of Dhaka’s Dakkhinkhan, leading to the capture of two female militants and the rescue of three children.
Two others were killed in the raid – a woman killing herself by detonating a suicide vest and a teenage boy whose cause of death remains unclear.
