These muggers used to rob people after making them unconscious using sedatives or rubbing ointment forcefully into their target's eyes.
Police also recovered a good number of sedative tablet and toxic ointment from their possession, Joint Commissioner of DB Police Abdul Baten said.
Joint Commissioner Baten told: “Launching separate drives on Monday night and Tuesday, some 7 'ointment gang' members were held along with poisonous ointment from capital’s Kallyanpur area while the other 5 members of 'dope and ointment gang' were held from Ramna area along with huge dope and stolen mobile phones.”
Two cases have been already filed in Mirpur and Ramna police stations against the detainees, he added.
