Three senior police officials are due to fly to Saudi Arabia soon for bringing back Kamrul Islam, the key suspect in the homicide of 13-year-old Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon.
One of the officials set to make the trip, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (media) Rahmat Ullah, told the Dhaka Tribune that the Police Headquarters has already issued directives on this regard.
Even though they were yet to receive the necessary visa documents, Rahmat Ullah said a date for their visit would be fixed within the next couple of days. The Interpol and the Saudi police authorities would help in Kamrul’s extradition, he added.
The other two law enforcers also going to Saudi Arabia are Police Headquarters’ Additional Superintendent of Police Mahbubul Karim and Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police AFM Nizam Uddin.
Earlier in the first week of September, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam said Kamrul would be brought back to the country within two weeks as the Royal court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had approved his deportation.
The Sylhet Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court yesterday recorded witness submission for the third day in the Rajon murder case. Four witnesses – Ishtiaq Ahmed Chowdhury, Ruhul Amin Pinky, UP member Abduj Jahir and Nizam Uddin – testified before the court yesterday.
