The police have confiscated the assets of two fugitives in the Rajon murder case, in accordance with recent a court order.
A team from Jalalabad police station, led by Sub-Inspector Ariful Amin, entered the house of Kamrul Islam and his brother Shamim Alam in Shekherpara yesterday and confiscated different assets including sofa, bed, refrigerator and other furniture.
Efforts were also on to confiscate the assets of another fugitive – Pavel Islam, said Jalalabad Officer-in-Charge Akhtar Hossain.
On Monday, Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Shahedul Karim passed the order to confiscate the assets of the three fugitives in the case. He also issued arrest warrants against the men.
Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi ambassador to Saudi Arabia has said it might be possible within the next four weeks to extradite Kamrul Islam, the main accused in Rajon’s murder who fled to Saudi Arabia after killing the 13-year-old.
Talking to BBC Bangla, Ambassador Golam Moshi said the Saudi authorities – who are currently holding Kamrul following his capture there – have already approved an extradition request from the Bangladesh government.
Different legal procedures for Kamrul’s extradition were currently going on and it might be possible to bring Kamrul back to Bangladesh within the next four weeks, Moshi added.
On July 8, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon was tortured to death by a group of people at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city.
On Monday, a Sylhet court accepted a charge sheet filed against 13 suspects, while further hearing in the case is scheduled to be held on August 31.
