Police arrested another person in connection with the killing of Dainik Samakal’s journalist Abu Sayem.
Police arrested Samajul from his residence on Thursday night. Meanwhile, another arrestee of the case Rajib Hossain was sent to jail yesterday afternoon after three-day remand.
Abu Sayem was stabbed to death at his own residence at Piaratala village in Jibannagar upazila on May 22.
An unidentified assailant wearing the attire of a sage entered the bedroom of Sayem around 1am while he along with his wife and two children was asleep. The attacker stabbed the journalist indiscriminately with a sharp weapon.
The miscreant also attacked Sayem’s father as he came forward in aid of the journalist hearing his screams, leaving both of them injured.
The injured were first taken to Jibannagar Hospital from where Sayem was shifted to Jessore Sadar Hospital. Later, he was sent to a hospital in the capital where he died around 4pm. Police arrested Rajib Hossain the following day.
