Dinajpur child rape victim to undergo surgery Monday

Dr Jasmine Nahar, resident surgeon of DMCH Casualty Department confirmed the surgery scheduled for November 21, Monday. She told the Dhaka Tribune: “She is now ready for surgery, since the risk of infection has been minimised.”

Dr Bilkis Begum, coordinator of the One-stop Crisis Centre of DMCH said: “Her physical and psychological condition is stable enough for the surgery to be carried out.” A joint team of doctors from the burn and plastic surgery department, paediatric surgery department, surgery department, neurosurgery department and urology department will conduct the surgery. She was initially treated at a local health complex and then moved to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for a week, before being transferred to DMCH in late October. The alleged rapist Saiful has been arrested and taken under police remand. However, he has not confessed yet and is currently in jail. The other accused of the case, Afzal Hossain Kabiraz is yet to be arrested.
