Dhaka terror attack: Tanvir Qadri’s son testifies in court

Update : 28 Jul 2017, 12:40 AM
The teenage son of suspected militant Tanvir Qadri alias Abdul Karim alias Md Shamsher Uddin, who was killed during a police raid in Dhaka on September 10 last year, has testified as a witness before a court over the Dhaka terror attack. Judge Md Golam Nabi of Dhaka Metropolitan Judicial Court recorded the confessional statement of the 14-year-old boy on Thursday, reports UNB. The development came after the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) produced him before the court praying for recording his confessional statement. Later, the court sent him to the Juvenile Correctional Center in Tongi of Gazipur, said court sources. A CTTC team conducted a drive at a six-storey residential building at Lalbagh Road near Pilkhana Gate 2 in Azimpur on September 10, 2016. The law enforcers arrested three alleged female militants - Khadiza, Sharmin and Shaheda Afrin - from the scene, recovered the body of Tanvir Qadri and rescued three children, including the teenage boy. The CTTC lodged a case with Lalbagh Police Station the same day. Police said Tanvir Qadri was one of the masterminds of the attack at Holey Artisan Bakery that killed 20 hostages and two police officers on July 1 last year.
