The court has fixed June 18 as the new date for submitting the investigation report in the murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi, marking the 126th delay in the case.
The date for submitting the report was scheduled for Thursday.
However, the investigating officer, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Azizul Haque of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), failed to submit the report.
As a result, Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam of Dhaka set the new date for submission.
Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam Russel of the prosecution division confirmed the information.
Sagar Sarowar, the news editor of Maasranga Television, and Meherun Runi, a senior reporter at ATN Bangla, were killed on February 11, 2012, in their rented flat in West Razabazar, Dhaka.
Following the murders, Runi’s brother, Nowsher Alam Roman, filed a case at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.
