The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court is scheduled to deliver its order next Sunday (May 3) on a government petition seeking a stay of a High Court order that granted bail to former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in five cases.
A bench led by senior Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam fixed the date for the order after hearing the matter on Monday.
According to case details, Selina Hayat Ivy was arrested in the early hours of May 9, 2025, at around 3:00 am from her residence, Chunka Kutir, in the Deoabhog area of Narayanganj city. She was subsequently shown arrested in multiple cases.
Ivy was initially granted bail by the High Court in five cases. However, the Appellate Division later stayed that order.
On November 18, she was shown arrested in another five cases. Later, a High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher granted her bail on February 26.
Of these five cases, four were filed with Fatullah Police Station over the killings of bus driver Abul Hossain Mizi, Abdur Rahman, Mohammad Yasin, and Parvez. The fifth case, filed with Sadar Model Police Station, involves allegations of assault and obstruction of government duties.
Following the High Court’s ruling, the state filed an appeal with the Appellate Division. On March 5, the Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division stayed the High Court’s bail order and referred the matter to the full bench for hearing.
Separately, she was also shown arrested in two additional cases.
