A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Faisal Rubel Ahmed on a further three-day remand in connection with the murder of Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi.
Rubel is a close aide of Faisal Karim Masud alias Rahul, the prime accused in the case.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order after a hearing, said SI Md Ruknuzzaman of the prosecution.
According to the prosecution, the investigation officer — Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdur Qadir Bhuiyan of the CID’s Dhaka Metro (East) region — had sought a seven-day remand. The court, however, granted three days.
Earlier, Rubel was placed on a six-day remand by the same court last Thursday.
The prosecution told the court that the accused had provided significant information during the previous remand, which now needs verification. Additional time is also required to trace absconding suspects and obtain forensic reports of two mobile phones seized from Rubel.
Rubel was arrested by the CID with assistance from the Detective Branch around midnight last Wednesday from the Ati Nayabazar area in South Keraniganj.
No defence lawyer appeared on behalf of the accused during the remand hearing.
