The High Court issued a rule on Sunday asking the relevant authorities to explain within two weeks why the 30-day detention of model Meghna Alam under the Special Powers Act should not be declared beyond legal jurisdiction.
The order was passed by a High Court division bench comprising Justice Razik-Al-Jalil and Justice Tamanna Rahman Khalidi, following a hearing on a writ petition filed regarding the detention.
The writ was filed by Meghna's father, and the petition was presented before the court by Barrister Sara Hossain.
Meghna Alam, the winner of Miss Earth Bangladesh 2020, was arrested at her flat in the Bashundhara Residential Area on Wednesday.
A Dhaka court had earlier ordered her 30-day detention under the Special Powers Act on Tuesday.
