The bench, consisting of Justice Md Atowar Rahman and Justice Md Ali Reza, has scheduled the hearing for the said period.

Earlier, on February 4, the High Court issued a rule asking why bail should not be granted to Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in the sedition case.

The bench of Justice Md Atowar Rahman and Justice Md Ali Reza issued a two-week rule regarding the bail.

The hearing on the bail petition was presented by lawyers Apuvra Kumar Bhattacharya and Prabir Ranjan Halder, while Additional Attorney General Anik Ar Hock and Additional Attorney General Arshadur Rauf represented the state.

On October 25, 2024, under Chinmoy Krishna Das’s leadership, a major gathering of the Hindu community took place in Chittagong.

A few days later, on October 31, a sedition case was filed against him for insulting the national flag.

In this case, 18 other individuals were also named as accused.

Subsequently, on November 22, another large gathering was held in Rangpur under Chinmoy’s leadership.

On November 25, Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in connection with the sedition case in Dhaka.

When a bail application was filed the next day, it was rejected, and the court ordered his remand to jail.

Following the court’s order, a clash occurred between law enforcement officers, lawyers and Chinmoy’s followers in Chittagong, during which lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was fatally stabbed outside the courtroom.

Since then, Chinmoy has been in jail.

On January 2, Chinmoy’s bail petition was rejected by the Chittagong Metropolitan District Judge Court.

He later filed a bail application with the High Court.
