The government is strengthening the e-Apostille system to preserve the international acceptability of Bangladeshi documents while ensuring faster, more reliable and hassle-free services for citizens.
The issue was discussed at an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam in the chair, said a foreign ministry’s press release.
Senior officials from 26 government ministries, divisions, directorates and offices attended the meeting, according to the press release.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen verification of original certificates, bring relevant issuing authorities under the e-Apostille process and improve coordination among concerned government offices and Bangladesh missions abroad.
Officials said the key objective was to safeguard the international acceptability and credibility of Bangladeshi documents while making authentication services quicker and more dependable for citizens.
The meeting also stressed stronger coordination among issuing authorities, the foreign ministry and Bangladesh missions overseas to ensure smooth verification and recognition of documents abroad.
Since the launch of the e-Apostille service in Bangladesh on March 30, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued more than 2.9 million Apostille certificates.
The service covers a wide range of documents, including educational certificates, police clearance certificates, medical certificates, marriage and birth certificates, experience certificates and national identity cards.
Officials said the introduction of the online e-Apostille service through the MyGov platform has significantly reduced public inconvenience and saved citizens both time and money.
