No receiver will be appointed to oversee all entities of Beximco Group, owned by Salman F Rahman, as they will operate under their supervision with strict monitoring by Bangladesh Bank and other relevant authorities.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury issued this ruling on Wednesday while disposing of the rule regarding the appointment of a receiver for Beximco Group.
Barristers Ruhul Quddus Kajal and Md Moniruzzaman represented Bangladesh Bank in court, while Barrister Masud R Sobhan appeared for the opposing side.
On September 5, 2024, the High Court ordered the appointment of a receiver to oversee all entities of Beximco Group and directed Bangladesh Bank to implement the decision. This order was given by a High Court bench comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub-ul-Islam.
At the same time, the court issued a rule asking why Bangladesh Bank should not be directed to disclose the total outstanding loans of Beximco Group's entities. Barrister Masud R Sobhan represented the petitioner in court, while Deputy Attorney General Redwan Ahmed Ranjeeb and Assistant Attorney General Mujahidul Islam Shaheen represented the state.
