A court has imposed a travel ban on Salman F Rahman, former adviser to Sheikh Hasina and chairman of Beximco Group, along with his wife Syeda Rubaba Rahman, brother Ahmed Sohail Fasiur Rahman, son Ahmed Shayan Fazlur Rahman, and Ahmed Sohail’s son Ahmed Shahriar Rahman.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued this order on Monday, following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam confirmed the information, saying: “The ACC filed a petition seeking a travel ban on Salman F Rahman and four others. The court has granted the request.”
The investigating officer of the case, ACC Deputy Director Muhammad Zainal Abedin, submitted the petition for the travel restriction.
The petition said: “An investigation is ongoing against Salman F Rahman and others regarding stock market fraud, misappropriation of approximately Tk36,000 crore in bank loans, and laundering thousands of crores abroad. In the interest of a fair investigation, it is essential to prevent their departure from the country.”
