The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) set June 15 as the deadline for submitting the probe report in a case concerning genocide and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Konabari, Gazipur, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
A three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, granted the prosecution’s request for an additional three months to file the report, on Wednesday.
Earlier, prison authorities produced the five accused former policemen before the court for the hearing.
The accused are former officers-in-charge Ashraf Uddin and Shafikul Islam, along with constables Akram Hossain, Fahim Hasan, and Mahmudul Hasan.
The tribunal also scheduled Tuesday for the investigation agency to interrogate constable Akram Hossain in connection with the case.
Confirming the matter to reporters, Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam said that the prosecution had requested permission for the investigation agency to interrogate Akram regarding the killing of Hridoy.
Hridoy was detained for participating in the mass uprising in the Konabari area on August 5, after which he was dragged into the middle of the road and shot in the back at point-blank range, he said.
"Granting our request, the tribunal has set March 11 (Tuesday) for interrogating the former policeman," Tajul added.
