The day to announce the verdict in the case of the brutal killing of Taslima Begum Renu in a mob beating in the North Badda area in the capital has been postponed to October 9.
The court of Dhaka's Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Morshed Alam announced the decision on Monday.
Earlier, the verdict was scheduled to be pronounced on Monday. However, as the judgment was not ready, the court postponed it to October 9.
Relatives of the deceased Renu have demanded maximum punishment for the accused in the verdict.
On July 20, 2019, Renu, 40, a single mother of two, was beaten to death by a mob on unfounded suspicions of being a kidnapper, in front of North Badda Government Primary School.
Later, Syed Nasir Uddin Titu, the victim’s nephew, filed a murder case against 400 to 500 unidentified persons at Badda police station.
