The police have filed a charge sheet in court accusing Mohammad Ziauddin, also known as Rufi, of being responsible for the suicide of actor Humaira Nusrat Himu.

The charge sheet was submitted on Monday by Sub-Inspector (SI) Sabbir Hossain of Uttara West police station at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka, as confirmed by court sources on Wednesday.

Himu took her own life by hanging on November 2 last year.

That night, her uncle Nahid Akhtar filed a case with Uttara West police station, accusing Rufi of inciting her apparent suicide.

Rufi was arrested by RAB the following day and, after several remands, was sent to jail by court order.

The charge sheet says Himu lived alone in an apartment in Uttara. Though she was previously married, it ended in divorce.

The apartment was also occupied by makeup artist and artist Kabir Ahmed Mihir.

Rufi had been married to Himu's cousin in 2014, but they too had divorced due to family issues. Through this familial connection, Himu and Rufi became acquainted, according to the charge sheet.

Despite the divorce, Himu and Rufi maintained regular contact, and Rufi frequently visited Himu’s apartment, sometimes staying overnight, it says.

The document states that due to a disagreement on November 1, 2023, Himu blocked Rufi’s mobile phone number and Vigo ID. This led to further disputes between them.

The following day, Rufi went to Himu’s apartment. Mihir, who opened the main door, allowed Rufi inside.

Shortly after, Rufi entered Mihir’s room and shouted that Himu had committed suicide.

According to the charge sheet, an argument had ensued between Rufi and Himu over the blocked phone number and Vigo ID. Rufi allegedly incited Himu to suicide, leading her to hang herself in distress.

The investigation report reveals that when Mihir questioned Rufi after the incident, the latter claimed he was in the washroom at the time of the suicide.

Mihir later found Himu hanging from the ceiling fan in her room, with broken glass in the room.

Mihir and Rufi then took Himu to Uttara Modern Medical College Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the doctor. During this time, Rufi fled with Himu’s two mobile phones.

Humaira Himu, born on November 23, 1985, in Lakshmipur, began her acting career in 2005.

Her performances in TV dramas, particularly in the regional dialect of Noakhali, gained significant attention.

Himu made her film debut with the 2011 release "Amar Bondhu Rashed."
