Another complaint has been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and several top ministers, state ministers, and high-ranking officials over allegations of genocide, murder, and torture during the recent student protests.

The complaint was filed on Thursday by Md Sanaullah, the father of Mehedi Hasan, a student who was shot dead during the protests.

Sanaullah's lawyer Gazi MH Tamim filed the complaint on his behalf, reports UNB.

Apart from Sheikh Hasina, others key accused in the case are – former road transport and bridges minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former state minister for information and broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, former chief of DMP's Detective Branch Harunor Rashid, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman and former RAB director general Barrister Harun Or Rashid.

In addition to them, the complaints implicate unnamed ministers, state ministers, MPs, and corrupt officials from the police and RAB, as well as leaders and activists from the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League.

The organizations themselves, along with their affiliated bodies, have also been accused.

This is the second complaint with ICT against Sheikh Hasina and others.

On 20 July, at around 5pm, the only son of the plaintiff, victim Mehedi Hasan, joined the anti-discrimination protests in his village Bar Raipara at Gazaria of Munshiganj.

Police and Awami League leaders opened fire on the protesters indiscriminately during their programs.

At one point, the victim was shot in the head, splattering his brain, alleges the complaint.

Mehedi immediately fell to the ground and died.

The complaint further mentioned that hearing the incident, the plaintiff went to the spot and found the body of his son. The body was brought home and buried.

Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal has started an investigation against 10 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on charges of crimes against humanity, including murder, genocide, and torture, that took place from July 15 to August 5 during the quota reform movement in government jobs and the subsequent movement to topple the government.

The complainant's lawyer Gazi MH Tamim confirmed the information on Thursday.

Earlier, the lawyer said the investigation agency started the investigation.

Also, an investigation officer has been appointed in this case and the agency has started reviewing by collecting the newspapers at the time of the incident, he added.

On Wednesday, a petition was filed in the International Criminal Tribunal requesting an investigation into allegations of genocide and crimes against humanity against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League general secretary and former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and several other prominent figures within the Awami League.

The first petition was submitted by Bulbul Kabir, the father of Arif Ahmed Siam, a Class IX student who was killed during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Kabir’s application accuses Hasina and others of orchestrating a violent crackdown on student protestors, resulting in widespread casualties and human rights violations.
