A Dhaka court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of BNP leader Aminul Haque in two cases of sabotage with Paltan model police station in Dhaka.
After a hearing on Tuesday afternoon, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque delivered the order, directing him to be sent to jail.
At the same time, he was ordered to be interrogated at the jail gate for two days.
Police had applied for 10 days to question him in custody in one case and seven days in another.
Aminul Haque's lawyers Syed Nazrul Islam and Syed Zainul Abedin Mejbah applied for bail seeking cancellation of remand. The state opposed this request.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court rejected both applications.
Earlier on January 14, the court allowed police to quiz the accused at the jail gate for a day in a case filed with Paltan model police station.
Aminul Haque was arrested at a house in Dhaka's Gulshan area on November 1, 2023.
The next day, a court approved his eight-day remand in a case with Paltan police station.
After the remand ended, he was sent to jail on November 10, where he has been since then.
