Another witness named Monindra Mohon testified against the accused Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan in the murder case of the police inspector Mamun in Dhaka Court on Thursday.

The witness testified in Dhaka's First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Faisal Atiq Bin Quader's court.

With this, the testimony of 11 of the 38 witnesses in the case has ended.

Earlier on June 4, four police officers testified in the case.

On July 28, 2022, the court recorded the statement of Jahangir Alam, the plaintiff in this case.

The other accused in this case are Suraiya Akhtar Kaya, Rahmat Ullah, Swapan Sarkar, Mizan Sheikh, Atiq Hasan, Sarwar Hasan and Didar Pathan. Arav and Kaya are absconding among them.

Arav Khan, a gold trader, came to the limelight following media reports that cricketer Shakib Al Hasan was visiting Dubai to attend the inauguration of his jewellery shop in Dubai.

Consequently, the police launched an investigation into the matter. According to police sources, Arav Khan started a gold business in Dubai with financial help from a former senior police officer.

Police inspector Mamun was killed in Banani on July 7, 2018. Three days after this incident, his brother filed a murder case. After the investigation, on March 31, 2019, the police filed a charge sheet in court against eight people including Rahmat Ullah and Rabiul Islam.

On November 25, 2021, the court ordered the trial to begin by forming a complaint in this case.
