Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of Rapid Action Battalion's legal and media wing on Saturday said court allows them time for a more thorough investigation into the sensational murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.
“Whenever we submit a report, the court decides whether or not the data is self-sufficient. The court also decides if RAB needs more time for an in-depth report,” he told reporters on Saturday.
As the investigation officers, RAB has to submit a progress report of the murder case to court, and then judges decide whether or not more time is needed, he added.
“I have said it before, and I will say it again, we do not want any innocent people to be victims of these sorts of crimes,” he added.
A Dhaka court on October 31 again directed RAB to submit probe report of a case filed over the murder of Sagar and Runi.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashedul Alam fixed December 1 as the new deadline.
With this, the court has rescheduled the date for the 93rd time.
