The Chamber judge of the Appellate Division suspended the bail order passed by the High Court to Salim Khan, chairman of Laxmipur Model Union Parishad (UP) in a case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order after hearing the ACC’s appeal to suspend the anticipatory bail.

The court also ordered Salim Khan to surrender by September 28.

Earlier on Wednesday, the High Court granted four-week anticipatory bail to Laxmipur Model Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Selim Khan in a case filed by the ACC.

The High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Biswajit Debnath passed the order after hearing his bail petition.

On Sunday, the ACC filed the plea seeking suspension of the High Court order.

On August 1, ACC Assistant Director Ataur Rahman filed the case against Salim Khan for amassing illegal wealth worth Tk34.53 crore.

According to the case statement, Salim Khan illegally amassed a wealth of over Tk34 crore and concealed information of about Tk67 lakh.

Later, Salim Khan filed an application with the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case.

The High Court ordered him to surrender within three weeks in the illegal wealth acquisition case filed by the ACC after hearing his plea.

On August 14, The High Court bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Salim rejected his bail plea.

However, because the case number was wrong in the copy of that order, a bail application was again filed in the High Court on behalf of Salim Khan.

Later, a separate bench of the High Court granted anticipatory bail to Salim Khan after hearing the new application.
